HOME & FAMILY with German Shorthaired Pointers
We are a German Shorthaired Pointer breeder in Northwestern Virginia and we strive to produce high quality versatile hunting dogs that are both easy to live with and love to train. We aim to breed calm tempered, biddable, intelligent, house dogs with non-stop desire to hunt, love for water, natural retrievers, and confirmation.
I'm both an upland bird and waterfowl hunter. But unfortunately, hunting season only last a couple of months, you have to be able to live with your dog the rest of the year. We have four children and our German Shorthaired Pointers (GSP'S) are a big part of our family. Faithful, spirited and friendly, GSP's like and mix well with children. However, you do have to be careful around small children because the breed can be boisterous especially when young.
The German Shorthaired Pointer's talents are show dog, obedience, gun dog, retrieving, tracking trials, field trials, and hunting tests. One of the most energetic breeds, the German Shorthaired Pointer is a hunting dog by nature. They are protective, clever, eager, willing to please, and very fond of their human families. Happy-go-lucky, they love nothing more than to engage in some type of constructive activity with their owners such as a long walk, jog, hike, hunt, or a game of fetch. GSP's are best suited for an active family.
